Friends of the 2030 Task Force,
Seventeen Ledgers in and multiple investigative reports (including the xCores, Madison and more), the core truth is clearer than ever: more weekly bulletins won’t fix what’s broken. Winning accountable leadership will. So we’re retiring the weekly cadence of the Tosa Ledger and shifting to briefings and action alerts at the moments that move outcomes. The reporting continues; the tempo gets sharper.
Why the Pivot (and What You Helped Build)
You helped surface and document a governance breakdown—academics, finances, and oversight—through the xCore Reports, open‑records work and notifications from the field and across the district.
You built a nonpartisan network that insists on transparent, student‑first decision‑making. We’ve had real time information thanks to this network, and given the District pause, and at times it even appears to have changed behavior.
You proved that sunlight changes the conversation. Now we need authority to change decisions.
Two Parallel Paths to Repair the Board
April 2026: Field a 2030 Reform Slate
We are organizing a nonpartisan 2030 Reform Slate for the April 2026 WSD election — leaders committed to students, teachers, fiscal stewardship, and real transparency.
If you’ve ever thought, “Someone should run,” this is your moment.
We’re recruiting:
Candidates (Board of Education)
Campaign managers and field leads (turf/volunteers, canvass, data)
Treasurer/compliance (local filings, reporting)
Comms/rapid response (issues, briefs, community updates)
What we offer:
Vetting and preparation support, a shared issues playbook (student safety, academic performance, fiscal discipline), rapid research, and a ready volunteer base under the 2030 banner.
How to raise your hand (pick one):
“I want to explore running.”
“I want to help recruit and build the slate.”
“I’ll take a campaign role (manager/field/finance/communications).”
Draft Timeline
Oct–Nov 2025: Recruit & vet slate; seat campaign teams.
Dec–Jan: File; launch; fundraising/house‑meetings.
Feb–Mar: Field + debates; GOTV.
April 2026: Election Day.
Recall Readiness in 2026: The Other Three Seats
If volunteer capacity is strong, we will organize a recall drive to give voters a choice on the three seats not up in April. Here’s the plain‑English path:
Signatures required: at least 25% of votes cast for Governor in the relevant district at the last general election.
Collection window: signatures must be gathered within 60 days after registering the recall committee.
Election timing: once petitions are certified sufficient, the recall election is held on the Tuesday of the 6th week that follows. (We’ll publish exact numbers and dates after counsel review.)
How to help right now:
“I can captain a neighborhood for signatures.”
“I can provide legal/compliance help.”
“I’ll host a home briefing to recruit captains.”
What Continues (and What Changes)
Continues: investigations, open‑records work, data briefs, and targeted Ledgers when action is needed.
Changes: no routine weekly send; instead, action‑timed updates aligned to meetings, filings, and campaign milestones.
Our North Star (Unchanged)
We’re independent and nonpartisan. The aim is trust, transparency, and results—safe, excellent schools, responsible finances, and an open, lawful governance culture. No drama, no gotchas—just facts, receipts, and fixes.
